Big open lawns, shaded picnic areas. Great for kids' art classes and outdoor birthday parties. Easy parking.
Virginia Avenue Park
Quieter than the beachside parks. Nice for mommy & me sensory sessions.
Palisades Park
The classic clifftop park. Stunning views — popular for paint & sip events at golden hour.
Marine Park
Family-friendly with a playground nearby. Good for mixed-age birthday parties.
Santa Monica State Beach
For beach-themed parties (north of the pier). We've done Under the Sea birthdays right on the sand. Best for older kids — sand and paints don't always mix for the youngest.
Backyards across SM
Most of our SM work happens in backyards across North of Montana, Sunset Park, and Ocean Park. Decent yards, weather usually cooperates, and indoor backup is rarely needed.
A few notes for Santa Monica hosts
- ParkingFor larger parties, plan for guest parking. Most SM streets have permit zones — mention it on invitations.
- Beach setupsIf you're booking a beach party, we need access to a parking spot near the setup area. We can't carry a full art studio across half a mile of sand.
- Permits for parksSanta Monica parks generally allow private gatherings under 25 people without a permit. Larger groups: we can advise.
- WindSanta Monica afternoons get windy in spring and fall. We bring weighted easels and clip-down paper. For very windy days we recommend an indoor or covered backup.
