Homeschool Art Curriculum

Art as a real subject, taught by a real art educator.

Ages 5–15 · Weekly recurring · 60 minutes each · From $120/lesson
Recurring weekly art curriculum for homeschool families. Aligns with California state standards and adapts to homeschool frameworks. Real instruction, real portfolio building, real artistic development across the year.

How the curriculum works

Unlike a fixed 5- or 8-week program, Homeschool Art is adaptive curriculum that flows across the year. Sessions build on each other but accommodate the rhythm of homeschool life — semester breaks, vacations, family travel, intensive periods.

Across a year, students typically work through:

  • Drawing fundamentals — observational technique, value, perspective, composition
  • Color theory and watercolor fluency
  • Acrylic painting and personal-project work
  • Art history integration — connections to specific artists and movements when relevant
  • Portfolio building — finished work students can show, frame, or include in homeschool portfolios
  • Critique and self-reflection

Frequently asked questions

How does this fit into our homeschool schedule?
Same time each week, in your home. Most families run a 60-minute session weekly — that's a real art subject, not a one-off enrichment. We can flex the day and time around your family's rhythm.
Does the curriculum align with state standards?
Yes — Elena's Master's in Art Education was specifically about how kids develop artistic skill through structured exploration. The curriculum aligns with California state standards for visual arts and adapts to homeschool frameworks like Charlotte Mason, classical, and unit-study approaches.
What ages?
Ages 5 through 15. Mixed-age siblings can do sessions together (sibling pricing). For under-5, see Mommy & Me classes.
How is this different from the 5-Week Foundations?
Foundations is a structured 5-week intro program with a defined arc. Homeschool Art is recurring weekly with adaptive curriculum that follows the student's interests and homeschool schedule across the year — semesters, breaks, summer pauses, etc.
Can we have art parties together with the homeschool group?
Yes — homeschool co-ops are a natural fit for our group programs. We also do birthday parties, special events, and seasonal one-off sessions for homeschool groups.
Billing?
Monthly invoicing in advance. You can pause for vacations or breaks with a week's notice. No annual contracts.
Spanish-language instruction?
Yes — popular with bilingual homeschool families. No extra cost.
