Why a painting, when you already hired a photographer
Because they are not doing the same job. A photographer records what happened. A painting decides what mattered — and it does a few things a camera structurally cannot:
- It holds the whole scene. A wide canvas can carry the venue, the guests, and your faces in one frame, where a lens has to pick one.
- It can hold two times at once. A 4:30 ceremony can carry the sky that arrived at 7:15.
- It can include people who aren't there — a parent who has passed, a friend who couldn't travel.
- It is entertainment while it happens. Guests come and watch, and it gives the room something to gather around between courses.
- It is finished the same night. You go home with it, rather than waiting on a gallery link.
Four ways to put an artist in the room
The live painting is the centerpiece. These three run alongside it — or on their own, at any event.
Live Guest Portraits
4–6 hours · about 10 guests an hour
Guests stop by the table during cocktail hour, have a photo taken, and come back later to a loose watercolor portrait of themselves. Every guest leaves holding something nobody else has.
Receptions where you want a favor guests actually keep

Profile portraits in the 18th-century tradition — guests sit against a lit cloth backdrop, and the silhouette is painted in watercolor from the shadow. Faster than full illustration, so it clears a bigger guest list.

A call before you book
Venue, date, and which moment you want on the canvas — the ceremony, the first dance, or the room at full tilt. That choice decides the composition and the canvas size.

Sketch and setup
Elena arrives about 90 minutes early, sets up at the spot your coordinator picked, and blocks in the background — the venue, the florals, the light — before guests are seated.

Painting through the event
The couple and the guests go in as the night happens. Guests drift over to watch between courses; plenty of couples say it became the thing people talked about.

Finished on site
Over 6–8 hours the canvas is completed at the venue and handed over dry, ready to hang. No waiting weeks for a delivery.

Optional studio pass
If you want a heavier, more layered finish, Elena takes it back for final glazing and varnish and returns it within a week. Entirely your call — it is not the default.

One flat price per canvas. It covers 6–8 hours on site, every material, setup and cleanup, and the finished piece in your hands the same night. Travel is included within 30 miles of West Los Angeles.

Booking both
Many couples pair the canvas with live guest portraits from $950 or watercolor silhouettes from $750. Tell us on the inquiry and we will quote the pair together.
What we need from your venue
Short list, and your coordinator has heard all of it before.
- A small table and two chairsSet at the edge of the room or the lawn, wherever your planner wants the easel. About a 4×4 foot footprint in total.
- Decent light, and shade if we're outsideA bright spot indoors, or shade outdoors — direct afternoon sun on wet paint changes how it behaves. After dark we work under a small daylight lamp.
- Vehicle access reasonably closeThe full kit does not hand-carry across a field or half a mile of sand. Somewhere to unload nearby is enough.
- A load-in window and a gate-list entryFor hotels, gated communities, and downtown venues with freight elevators. Pass on your coordinator's vendor sheet and we will work to it.
- Whatever paperwork the venue wantsElena carries general liability insurance and can issue a COI naming the venue as additional insured. BFA + Master's in Art Education, University of Seville.
